We are located at 8054 Hannum Road, Mayville, New York.

Chautauqua Creek, also known as “the Gorge”, is located between Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake. Our campground is 45-acres of private land with forests, creeks, waterfalls, hiking trails, and more! There is over 1,000-acres of public land surrounding our campground with easy access to Chautauqua Creek, Westside Overland Trail, Snowmobile Trail, Rails-to-Trails, and nature preserves to be explored! In addition, we are only a short drive (10-15 mins) from the Chautauqua Institution, grocery stores, and lakeside shops, bars, restaurants and attractions along Chautauqua Lake and Lake Erie. IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

1) Please read the specific instructions for entering and parking equipment. Each campsite is unique, and the driver must evaluate the site and specific instructions before entering. Please note these campsites are designed to be low impact to preserve trees and buffer areas within this sensitive environment. We appreciate your cooperation.

2) Our staff is not onsite 24-hours a day, but we check on campsites and operations regularly. We will typically respond or be onsite within an hour if necessary. 3) We do not have a general store or public showers available at this time. However, bathrooms, potable water spigots, and dish washing sinks are available. Please prepare accordingly. This campground is designed to be a woodsy outdoor nature experience with forest buffers around each campsite. There are limited amenities and onsite services.

RULES & REGULATIONS

1. Campers must check in between 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and register and occupy their campsite by 9:00 p.m. on the first night of their reservation, or the campsite will be subject to re-rental and fees may be forfeited. Check out is at 11:00 a.m.

2. Please note our cancellation policy: Deposits are refundable minus a $10 cancellation fee if reservation is cancelled at least 7 days prior to the scheduled arrival date. No shows will be charged full rental charges for time reserved.

3. Chautauqua Gorge Campground is privately owned. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone and will not be responsible, financial, or otherwise, for accidents or injury to guests or for loss of money or valuables of any kind.

4. No more than 6 people are allowed at each campsite.

5. No more than 2 vehicles allowed per campsite and no vehicle shall block or obstruct the main driveways or travel corridors for other campers. Guests must use the designated guest parking areas. Additional guests must sign in and pay a $5 parking fee.

6. Please do not feed wild animals and always “leave no trace” when hiking and exploring the forest. This area contains sensitive habitat for rare plants and animals that we aim to preserve and protect. Please help us promote land stewardship.

7. Please use trash containers, dump stations and reasonable clean-up practices. If cabins or campsites are left in an unacceptable manner, a $50-$100 cleaning fee will be added to the guest's invoice.

8. Guests will assume financial responsibility for any and all damages they cause.

9. All campers under 18 years old must be accompanied and supervised by the adult campsite permit holder that made the reservation. The permit holder is also responsible for all guests to comply with these rules and regulations.

10. Please be considerate of other guests and the buffer areas provided. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

11. No person shall possess or use firearms, fireworks, or illegal drugs on the property. No hunting is allowed on the property. Fishing is allowed in public areas of the Gorge.

12. Excessive drinking, profane language, and loud music will not be tolerated. Please be considerate of other guests and the buffer areas provided.

13. All pets must be on a leash 6-10 feet in length. Longer leashes of reasonable length are allowed at campsites. Pet owners assume full responsibility, financial or otherwise, for all injuries and/or damage caused by their pet. Pet waste must be picked up and disposed of at trash containers to protect guests and the environment.

14. Fires must be built in existing fire rings only. Do not move fire rings. Do not cut down any trees or living vegetation. However, dead sticks and branches on the ground can be used for fires or building small forts.

15. Customers shall not make any alteration to the driveways, electric, water, or sewer connections provided by the campground.

17. All guests agree to read and comply with these Rules and Regulations. Upon signing this registration form, I accept responsibility for my guests and acknowledge receipt of a copy of the Rules and Regulations, agree to follow them, and hold Chautauqua Gorge Campground harmless of any and all accidents, injuries, losses, and damages of any sort or kind, even death.

18. By accessing the property by way of the gate code and water spigot code (when applicable) all guests agree to the terms and conditions listed above.

Directions

Directions from NY state route 394:At the traffic light in the Village of Mayville turn west onto state route 430 (West Chautauqua St.), continue 1.6 miles, turn right onto Hannum Rd. continue 2.6 miles to the campground driveway. The road does narrow a bit, but continue until the sign for Chautauqua Gorge Campground.
